Lean to "Make Your Own Medicine"
In this time of transition for ourselves and the planet, the energies of
the eath are reawakening in the consciousness of humankind. Now,
possibly more than ever before, we are called to deepen our personal
Nature connection. Often, we find that the paths we follow are not
really our own. We may have spent a great deal of time following the
teachings of someone else only to find ourselves misdirected on our
journey to Truth. Now is the time to follow the teacher within. Only
this inner teacher can truly direct us on our personal paths. When we
listen to the wisdom of our inner guide, we are able to stand in the
center of our own power. Like the shaman, we can then travel on our
own paths, make our personal Earth Walk, follow our highest
Spirit Walk.
Presented in what Amber Wolfe calls "cookbook shamanism," In the
Shadow of the Shaman shares recipes, ingredients, and methods of
preparation for experiencing some very ancient wisdoms-wisdoms
of Native American and Wiccan traditions, as well as contributions
from other philosophies of Nature, as they are used in the shamanlc
way. Ms. Wolfe encourages us to feel confident and free to use her
methods to cook up something new, completely on our own. This
blending of ancient formulas and personal methods represents what
Ms. Wolfe calls "Aquarian shamanism."
In the Shadow of the Shaman is designed to communicate wisdom
and information in the most practical, direct ways possible, so that the
wisdom and the enery may be shared for the benefit of all. Whatever
your system or tradition, you will find In the Shadow of the Shaman a
valuable book, a resource, a friend, a gentle guide and suppot on
your jouney. Dancing in the shadow of the shaman, you will find new
dimensions of Spirit.

Worlds Spirituality Series
Spirituality may be best defined as the attainment of the highest
aspects of human character in relationship to the Divine. In the past,
this attainment was most often under the control of fixed doctrines
and hierarchical religious structures. Today, however, this quest for
spirituality has become more of an individual process. Spirituality
has become a process of making a pesonal connection to the highest,
most divine aspects of Self.
One of the strongest concepts, basic to the quest for spirituality in
modem times, is the deep recognition of the unity and interelatedness
of all aspects of life. While this concept may have been given lip sevice
in the past, it is being practiced in the present. We are indeed living in
a
new world of awareness, consciousness, and connectedness.
Ancient wisdom, which predates the teachings of most organized
religions, speaks of this same great unity of life. Often this is described
as a web, or weaving, of which we are all an active, creative part. Even
modem physics has come full circle to meet ancient mysticism with
its "new physics" concept of a tissue of events connecting all life.
Spirituality has become the domain of each individual in full awareness
of his role, and his function in the weaving of life.
As we, too, have come full circle, we have begun to view ancient
wisdoms and forms of spirituality with new, and renewed, interest.
Many of these ancient spiritual forms carry the message of direct
connection to the Divine that we seek today. Moreover, they connect
us directly to the web of life by reacquainting us with Nature, with
Spirit, and with our most personal, divine Self. Rather than doctrine,
these ancient spiritual forms provide direction; rather than dogma,
they give us decisive power in our own lives.
In a new world of spirituality, we tum back to ancient foms such as
shamanism, Wicca, and earth wisdoms to reclaim sovereignty over
our own spiritual lives. We relean ancient ways so that we can follow
our own path and make a direct connection to the most divine
aspects of Self, Nature, and Spiit. Our path, we see now, is one active
thread in the great weaving of life we call the universe. And our
renewed awareness of our function as part of this weaving shows us
that we are both the weaving and the weaver. In the new world we
share, we find that the quest for spirituality is a personal responsibility
one with positive power and with results to be shared by all.
