Readme.txt file----------------------Program Description-----------------------------MidiPlayerThis program plays Yamaha midi & style files on a PC’s sound card or on a PSR or other midi device (if the user has midi output), and permits adjustment of the instrument voices and internal midi volume.Installation----------------IMPORTANT! For all features to work, the program must be installed in the default directory, C:\Program Files\MidiPlayer. Accept the default when it is offered.To install the program, follow these steps:If you already have MidiPlayer, the old version must be uninstalled first. Follow the Uninstall directions below and then proceed as instructed here.Copy the ZIP file to an empty directory/folder. Unzip it.Browse to the folder and double click on Setup.exe or depress the Start Button, select Run and browse to directory/folder where the program has been unzipped and click on the program named Setup.exe.At this point in some installations you may be presented with a screen saying "Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system..." This is perfectly normal and is not cause for concern. Like most programs, the software you are installing (which is written in Visual Basic 6.0, one of the most popular languages for PC and Internet programs) makes use of various Microsoft support programs to do many common jobs (e.g. opening files). If the screen requests your permission to install NEWER or MISSING versions of these support programs, Click Ok to the prompt.Do NOT give permission for the program to install OLDER versions. It is not necessary and the new versions on your system will work fine.Click Yes to the prompt "Do you want to restart Windows now?" when it appears. After the computer reboots, begin the installation process again: Browse to the folder and double click on Setup.exe or depress the Start Button, select Run and browse to directory/folder where the program has been unzipped and click on the program named Setup.exe.At the screen "Setup cannot install files if they are in use", click Ok.At the screen "Begin the Installation", click the large button on the left side to proceed.At the screen "Choose program Group, click Continue.At the screen "...Completed Successfully", click Ok.You can now delete the ZIP and installation programs.To create a shortcut on the desktop, open Windows Explorer, locate the installed program (e.g. C:\Program Files\MidiPlayer\MidiPlayer.exe), and with the right mouse button click on the program and drag it the Desktop. When you release the right mouse button, left click on the "Create Shortcut Here" option.To Run the Program------------------From the Start Button, select Programs/ the name of the program group (usually the same as the program name) and then the link to the program. For example: Start/Programs/MidiPlayer/MidiPlayer.exeProgram information and help can be obtained at any time by clicking on the Info/Help button. The manual file, located in the program directory, can also be viewed by MS Word, WordPad or other programs that accept .rtf files.Note: Use of this software is conditional upon acceptance of the terms and conditions of the User's Agreement.
